For the last decade, boy bands have been popular fixtures in today's modern music. Their music, combined with television and in-person appearances, helps these groups gain fans. A band enjoying popularity among teenagers and young fans today is Big Time Rush. This group, made up of four childhood friends, also has its own television show.

All four members are originally from the state of Minnesota. In fact, each member knows how to play hockey and lists the sport as one of his favorite recreational activities. The quartet moved from Minnesota to California in the hopes of beginning a recording career.

Their move proved to be successful and their band was soon formed. Their first album was released in 2010, although they released several singles prior to their album's release. Because of their prime time television series, their first album was well received and certified as gold several months after its introduction onto the charts.

They have released Christmas music as well. Their rendition of Mariah Carey's single "All I Want for Christmas" is featured routinely on the television channel Nickelodeon. They also appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Their television program also includes a Christmas version, with the band members sharing their first holiday in Los Angeles with their recording manager and extended families.

When they are not recording music or filming their series, they tour the country and put on live shows. They traveled to several state fairs this past summer, including the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Teenagers and younger fans enjoy listening to boy bands. The group Big Time Rush appeals to adolescents and parents alike and continue to enjoy commercial success. They appear in their own program on the kids' network Nickelodeon and have released an album to critical praise and success. Their performances also include live shows held throughout the world.
