Peter Gabriel toured the globe 25 years ago in support of his biggest hit as a solo artist, So. In 2012 he heads back out on the road, but this time to celebrate the album and the performance that proved defining for him as a solo singer, the live double album of his performance in Athens, Greece. This time he is calling it the Back to Front Tour and he made sure to include a city whose entertainment history is undeniably built on this kind of nostalgia, Las Vegas. October 5, 2012 he will perform for those with Peter Gabriel tickets to the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

This is one of the last few dates on an already short concert schedule. There are only going to be 13 North America, so this is an event no fan in the area can miss. It is rumored the former lead singer of the Genesis has given the brief tour its name because of his intention of playing the album’s set list backwards. This would mean Peter Gabriel would be belting out the lyrics to “In Your Eyes” (according to the re-mastered album’s song list) to kick off the show. No matter when he sings the song, there will surely be at least one person in a trench coat holding up a boom box ala John Cusak.

The other song likely to get such a treatment is “Sledgehammer”, though it would be difficult to re-imagine this music video. It played nonstop on MTV but it is still unlikely any fan is willing to or will be allowed to carry in a sledge hammer to start tearing the place apart. 

These songs have endured the test of time and they would make perfect bookends for these performances. Of course, everyone expects both these songs to be played again for the requisite encore. If the fans at the Las Vegas Pater Gabriel concert do not get their fill of the two songs that convinced the singer he had a future as a solo artist (his first four albums were duds despite three hits) then there may well be rioting.
