The American Country Awards (ACA) was launched in 2010. It joins the CMA, ACM, and CMT in recognizing the achievements of those in the industry. However, this program is unique because all ballots are cast by fans. Developed by Fox television, its main categories include touring, music videos, and music (album, song, and artist of the year).
The inaugural show was broadcast in December of 2010. The venue was the Grand Garden Arena at the MGM Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was hosted by award-winning performer, Trace Adkins. The show featured performance by numerous artists, including Uncle Kracker, Josh Turner, Steel Magnolia, Reba, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, and Jason Aldean.
Officials have announced Adkins will be joined by co-host Kristin Chenoweth (singer, actress) in 2011. The awards are scheduled to be presented at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Among the scheduled performers are both co-hosts, as well as Pistol Annies, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, and Thompson Square. Appearances are expected to be made by Miranda Lambert, Rachel Bilson, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, and the members of Pawn Stars (Austin Russell, Corey Harrison, Rick Harrison, Richard Harrison).
The nominees for the second annual ACAs include the following. Artist of the Year nominations include Taylor Swift, The Band Perry, Thompson Square, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, the Zac Brown Band, Sara Evans, Sugarland, and Jason Aldean. In addition, Eric Church, Chris Young, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Allison Krauss, Rascal Flatts, Thompson Square, the Pistol Annies, Jerrod Niemann, Scotty McCreery, Justin Moore, Jake Owen, and the Eli Young Band have received nominations.
The American Country Awards will be broadcast live from Las Vegas. The MGM Grand Garden Arena can accommodate 16,800 guests. It features excellent sight-lines from each seat, as well as state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and acoustics. It has hosted many notable events, including major concerts and sports competitions.
