Smashing Pumpkins Tickets

Smashing PumpkinsBilly Corgan lead singer and only remaining original member of the major alternative band of the 90’s Smashing Pumpkins is living the rock star dream.  Corgan was wise enough to exploit his angst-ridden lyrics, he never shied away from rock star posturing.  In fact, Smashing Pumpkins became the model for alternative rock success.  While Pearl Jam shunned the exposure and Nirvana was over the top destructive, the Pumpkins knew how to play the game.  Achieving mass success with 1993’s Siamese Dream, since then they have come a long way to legitimize heavy metal and orchestrated prog rock.  Even with the inner turmoil and internal problems that all bands go through they were able to maintain and continue making and selling records, emerging as the longest-standing and most successful alternative rock band of the early 90’s.

Releasing their debut single, I Am One, in 1990 on the Chicago label Limited Potential.  The band continued with much success on this road until Corgan switched things up in 2008 saying the group would no longer record albums, only issue singles.  Over the next two year’s Smashing Pumpkins released scattered songs from the band’s Teargarden by Kaliedyscope as free downloads to fans.

Releasing a physical collection in 2010 by way of the EP box sets Songs for a Sailor and The Solstice Bare.  In 2012 they released Oceania their break from the single-centric approach, but still part of the 44-track Teargarden concept, Oceania is Smashing Pumpkins’ eighth studio album.  Their 2014 album Monuments to an Elegy was released December 9th with Tommy Lee of Motley Crue on the drums it debuted at 33 on the Billboard 200.  Their highly anticipated next album Day for Night’s release is still TBA but knowing Corgans flair for the unexpected fans are excited and watching the bands social media daily for updates on their plans.  If fans are not vigilante Corgan will pull a fast one kind of like how he released the news update of the band reuniting in 2010, by buying a full page in The Chicago Tribune to announce that Smashing Pumpkins were reuniting without even informing the other’s in the band first! However, here we are 10 years after that stint and who are you planning to come out and see soon??  SMASHING PUMPKINS on the rise again!
