Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post, was born on July 4, 1995 in Syracuse, New York. He grew up listening to many different genres of music from hip hop to country. Post began his musical career in 2010 when he auditioned for the band Crown the Empire, but was rejected due to his guitar strings breaking during the audition.
His stage name came at age 14, after using a random name generator. After dropping out of college, Post moved to Los Angeles with a long time friend in order to further his music career. He and a few other producers created the group BLCKVRD and recorded music together. After dropping his music video for his single “White Iverson” in 2015, he signed his recording contract with Republic Records.
Post released his first full-length album titled August 26, in May of 2016. The album included his singles “Money Made Me Do It” featuring 2 Chainz and “Git With U.” Later that year Post released his sophomore album, Stoney, which included his chart toppers “Congratulations” featuring Quavo and “I Fall Apart.”
Beerbongs and Bentleys, Post’s third studio album, was released in April 2018. His project broke the first day streaming record on Spotify, with a total of 78.7 streams. The album also gave Post his first set of Grammy Nominations. Post’s latest album Hollywood Bleeding was released in September 2019 and debuted as number one on Billboard’s 200. In addition to releasing new music, Post is planning to start his own record label and film production studio.
