The Three Kings and Their Cousin

This story begins with the three brothers, Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill, being born to a traveling, religious family in Oklahoma City. The brothers participated in choir and could play a wide range of instruments. Seems like a perfect setup for a family band.

The twist in this story is that the brothers were actually allowed to listen to rock music. Who knows what would have happened if they could only listen to choir music.

Sadly, their parents got a divorce and the brothers moved to Nashville in 1999. They were also able to convince their cousin, Matthew Followill, to come there with them to form a family band.  They agreed to name the band after their father and grandfather, which were both Leon. Thus the Kings of Leon were born.

Their first record deal was with RCA Records, which produced the album The Holy Roller Novocaine. This had some success and was said to have inspired a new rock revolution. More fame was acquired from opening for acts like U2.

Five more albums were released and were top charters in the United States and in the United Kingdom. It is said that as you listen from one album to the next, you can hear a progression in their music. It starts out messy and then moves to a cleaner cut sound.

Their music has pleased people from Russia to Australia, making it to the bestselling album in many countries. Their current tour will come back to the United States and make a stop in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand in September. Kings of Leon has appealed to so many people across the globe and will get a chance to play at the entertainment capital of the world. This is a perfect fit, for a fantastic show, in an incredible place!
