Ke$ha is a pop singer and songwriter.  She signed a contract with a label back in 2005, but had to wait for her breakthrough in early 2009 after appearing on Flo Rida's number one single, "Right Round," which soared to number one, selling more than 636,000 downloads it's first week out.  Several months later, Ke$ha released her debut single, "Tik Tok" which reached number one in eleven countries.  Within 9 months of releasing her debut album, titled Animal, she had sold two million albums worldwide and released three additional top ten singles.

Ke$ha credits her love for story-songs to spending her formative years hanging out with veteran songwriters in Nashville, TN.  Her mom Pebe, a former punk-rock singer, is a songwriter whose career took off in Music City in the late 70's when a song she co-wrote, called "Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You," became a hit for Joe Sun in 1978 and a country chart-topper for Dolly Parton in 1980.
