Former Disney sensation and chart-topping singer, Demi Lovato, has announced her co-headlining “Future Now” tour of North America along with singer and former member of the Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas. The tour, which features a stop in Las Vegas on August 13 at the famed MGM Grand Garden Arena, comes after the release of her critically acclaimed fifth studio album, “Confident”. Meanwhile, Jonas will perform in support of his upcoming third studio album, “Last Year Was Complicated”, due out on June 10, 2016.

The tour, which runs from June 24 until September 17, also features an opening act from singer Mike Posner. Las Vegas fans will be able to catch the duo and opener live during their one stop in Nevada among a total of 44 shows.

FROM DISNEY STAR TO SUPERSTAR

Demi Lovato began her early career a regular cast member of the children’s television show, Barney & Friends, alongside her friend and future Disney co-star, Selena Gomez. After scoring a number of supporting roles on television shows, such as “Prison Break” and “Just Jordan”, Lovato scored her first leading role on the Disney Channel short series, “As The Bell Rings”.

After working closely with Disney, Lovato auditioned for the Disney Channel original movie, “Camp Rock” and regular series, “Sonny with a Chance”. She won both parts, landing the roles of both Mitchie Torres in “Camp Rock” and titular character, Sonny Munroe on “Sonny with a Chance”.

“Camp Rock” proved to be Lovato’s big break, drawing in an audience of 8.9 million viewers during its initial airing. The film’s soundtrack also proved to be popular, featuring tracks from Lovato, as well as her co-stars, and Disney’s incredibly popular boy band, Jonas Brothers, which included Demi’s co-headliner on the “Future Now” tour, Nick Jonas.

Following the success of “Camp Rock”, Lovato released her debut album through Disney’s Hollywood Records. The album, titled “Don’t Forget”, debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 89,000 copies in its first week. Piggybacking on the successful dynamic of the film, the album also featured collaborations with the Jonas Brothers.

Though she made a successful transition from acting to singing, Demi continued to work in both realms of the entertainment world. Her close ties with Disney lead to more Disney Channel original movies, Including “Princess Protection Program”, in 2009, and the highly anticipated sequel to her “Camp Rock”, “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”, the following year. In 2012, Lovato landed the role of a judge on America’s version of British talent show, “X-Factor”. She worked closely alongside fellow judge, Simon Cowell, during the show’s second and third seasons.

While acting and appearing in dual roles of both judge and mentor on “X-Factor”, Lovato worked behind the scenes on her singing career. She released her sophomore album, “Here We Go Again”, in 2009 and follow up albums, “Unbroken” and “Demi”, in 2011 and 2013 respectively. The albums have spawned several hit songs, including, “Skyscraper”, “Give Your Heart a Break”, “Heart Attack” and the “Frozen” soundtrack original song, “Let It Go”.

Most recently, Lovato released her fifth studio album, “Confident” to critical success, debuting in the number two spot on the US Billboard 200 chart.

“CONFIDENT”

On October 16, 2015, Demi released her fifth studio album, “Confident” after months of build-up. In July of 2015, in preparation for it’s Fall release, the singer released the album’s lead single, “Cool For the Summer”, which peaked at number eleven on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The album was met with critical success upon release and earned her comparisons to her contemporaries, Kelly Clarkson and Sia. The album also appeared on two year-end lists, including Rolling Stone’s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2015 in the number 15 spot, as well as Fuse’s same-titled list, this time appearing in the number 17 slot.

Within its first week of release in the United States, the album sold a total of 98,000 units. The album also became the singer’s highest-charting album in the UK, landing in the number six spot on the UK Albums Chart. Lovato has since released two more singles from the album, title track “Confident”, as well as “Stone Cold”.

She now hits the road in support of the album on this year’s co-headlining “Future Now” tour, alongside Nick Jonas. She’ll perform songs from the album on the tour’s 44 stops, including Las Vegas on August 13, 2016.
