The Charlie Daniels Band is a country rock band built around fiddler Charlie Daniels, the man behind “the Devil Went Down to Georgia”. The Grand Ole Opry inductee has not stopped touring since rising to prominence from the meager beginnings as a Nashville session musician four decades ago. Charles Daniels began working as a singer, guitarist and fiddler back around the time Elvis Presley was first making an impact and ended his time behind the scenes after working with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. By the time he finally released his self-titled debut album he had more than enough time lodged in the recording studio to perfect his craft as a Southern rocker.

His first hit was not “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, but instead it was “Uneasy Rider” from the album Honey in the Rock. The Devil, his signature song would not come out until six years later. The Charlie Daniels Band has since become a staple of the 1980s, when country seemed to be finding its way. He re-released “Long Haired Country Boy” and declared his allegiance with “In America”. All the while he made it clear he was the best fiddler in the business.

The years have passed and though the fiddler has not been shy about releasing new material, though the last studio album to prove popular enough to be deemed RIAA certified was Simple Man. Instead, the Charlie Daniels Band has had more success with greatest hit compilation albums. A Decade of Hits went quadruple platinum and Super Hits went double platinum. He has also continued success with occasional concerts and tours, with perhaps the biggest performance of his career coming four years ago when he played the Grand Ole Opry.
