The UNLV Rebels are going into battle against the Hawaii Warriors on November 16 at Sam Boyd Stadium. UNLV is currently ranked number six in the Mountain West Conferences with an overall record of 2-7, while Hawaii is ranked at number two, and has an overall record of 6-4. The previous game these two teams met, the Hawaii Warriors won 35-28.
The game is the culmination of the week’s worth of activities. Throughout the week, UNLV welcomes all alumni, current students, and members of the community to join in on the festivities. Before the game, spectators are also able to attend the Rebel Block Party, the tailgate experience done the Rebels way. During halftime, attendees will also enjoy a halftime performance by the Start of Nevada Marching Band.
To start off the homecoming festivities, the University unveiled the renaming of what was formerly known as Swenson Street to University Center Drive. The project came into the works in October of 2015 and took four years to complete. President of the University, Marta Meana, acknowledged the hard work put into the project during the unveiling on Tuesday. She stated, “We stand here today because several passionate people set out to make something positive happen for UNLV.” The University hopes the collaboration with the community of Las Vegas, encourages alumni, students, and community members alike to build a connection with one another.
