 Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston. She got an early start in music, and was singing in the church choir and attending dance school by the time she had reached seven years old. She soon teamed up with three friends to form a band that would eventually become known as Destiny's Child, which brought her great success. She stayed with the band until 2002, when she decided to branch out on her own. This turned out to be a good decision, as her solo career is off to a successful start.
