This popular comedian and actor was born as David Adkins in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1956. He has been active in the entertainment industry since 1978. In addition to live performances, he has appeared in numerous television shows and movies. His genres include surreal humor and political satire, as well as character, observational, and black comedy.

He is known for his clean comedy. This entertainer has the unique ability to delivery engaging monologues which are outrageously funny, but not profane. Among his broad range of subjects are aging, relationships, race relations, pop culture, family and friends, current events, American politics, parenting, marriage, self-deprecation, and everyday life.

One of his early, notable roles was Coach Walter Oakes on the television sitcom, "A Different World". The show was a spin-off of the widely popular "Cosby Show". He starred on the sitcom from 1988 to 1991.

In 1990, he hosted his first special on HBO. It was so well received that he presented encore shows during 1993, 1996 and 1998. All these specials have been released on DVD and VHS. This versatile performer has also held roles in several feature films. Among them are "Necessary Roughness" (1991), "Meteor Man" (1993) and "The Coneheads" (1993).

From 1989 to 1991, this busy artist served as the host for the syndicated music program, "Showtime at the Apollo". The program featured live performances from the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. It spotlighted professional as well as amateur performers.

In September of 1993, his self-titled sitcom debuted on network television. Although the show ran for only one season, his performance earned him a Favorite Actor nomination in the Kids' Choice awards.

This dynamic entertainer continues to tour regularly. Sinbad performs in Las Vegas during his Fall tour which also includes dates in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and West Virginia.
