Tremaine Aldon Neverson, better known by his stage name as Trey Songz, is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actor.  Although Songz didn't have aspirations to have a musical career as a child due to his shyness, he recognized his vocal abilities around the age of fourteen.  Reluctant to sing, he began performing with encouragement by friends and family in high school and was discovered by record producer Troy Taylor during a talent show in 2000.

Trey received his diploma in 2002, and immediately moved to New Jersy to work with Taylor.  Soon, the singer was appearing on Kevin Lyttle's debut album and Trick Daddy's Thug Matrimony as a sideman, as well as striking out on his own with "About the Game", a solo cut from the Coach Carter soundtrack.  As he was working on his debut album -- not to mention several collaborations with Lil Kim, Trina, and Snoop Dogg -- Trey Songz released some street-level mixtapes under his alias, the Prince of Virginia.  His proper debut, I Gotta Make It, was released in 2005 and the sophomore effort, Trey Day, charted at number eleven upon its release in 2007.

Trey Songz has several BET Award nominations and two Grammy Award nominations to his credit.  In 2010, he won the BET Award for Best Male R&B Artist.
