The Tournament of Kings in Las Vegas show is one of the City's top-rated. This jousting dinner theater is presented at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino. Located on the Strip, this extravagant resort was named in honor of King Arthur's mythical sword. Its remarkable facade reflects a stylized castle. Owned by MGM Resorts International, it opened in 1990.
This dinner show is one of the resort's two permanent productions. The other is Thunder Down Under, an all-male revue. In addition to entertainment, this complex features a 100,000 square-foot casino, 13,000 square-foot fitness center and spa, swimming pools, children's areas, food court, Octane Lounge, Canterbury wedding chapel, and 3,981 guest rooms. The Steakhouse at Camelot, and Dick's Last Resort are among the two restaurants in this resort. The latter is known for its unusually ornery servers who are trained to treat guests obnoxiously.
This popular dinner show features a medieval-themed jousting tournament. It made its debut with the opening of the resort in 1990. Performed in King Arthur's Arena, the production includes 32 cast members and 12 breeds of horses. Fireworks, jousting, dancing maidens, and invading armies are among the facets of this production. Special effects include pyrotechnics, smoke, fog, and strobe lights.
The amphitheater can accommodate 925 guests and is open to all ages. Visitors are treated to a three-course medieval feast served by wenches and serfs. True to the time-period, the meals are designed to be eaten with no utensils.
Excalibur is linked to neighboring resorts by elevated pedestrian bridges. Across Tropicana Avenue to the north is New York-New York, and across the Strip to the east is the Tropicana Resort. Free trams are available to transport guests to sister MGM complexes in the south, including Mandalay Bay and the Luxor.
Tournament of Kings in Las Vegas is the city's most popular dinner show. It is presented once on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and twice on Thursday through Sunday evenings. Dinner and show packages are available, as well as show-only packages.
