Steve Martin is an actor, comedian, writer, playwright, and producer. He is also a musician. Martin recently released his first bluegrass album, The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo. The album quickly reached #1 on the Billboard charts where it stayed for 12 weeks. In January 2010, that same album got Steve a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album.
In 2009, Martin joined The Steep Canyon Rangers as the featured performers in the broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion. He continued to tour with them for several additional dates including the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Benaroya Hall in Seattle.
Martin's second full length album titled, Red Bird Alert, is scheduled to be released in March of 2011. Steve will be accompanied by The Steep Canyon Rangers and well as special vocal appearances by Sir Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks.
