Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular has been running at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino since 2006. It opened in a new theater which was designed specifically for this show. This 40 million dollar, customized theater has an enormous, shiny golden facade which resembles the Palais Garnier (Paris Opera House), which is the show's setting. It was designed by the legendary architect, David Rockwell.

This popular performance presents an abbreviated version of the original Phantom of the Opera blockbuster musical. It opened in 1986, and has become Broadway's longest-running musical. The show holds the record as the highest-grossing, most commercially successful entertainment event of all time. Its widely acclaimed musical score was composed by Andrew Lloyd Weber. The plot is based on the 1910 Gothic novel, "Le Fantome de l'Opera", which was written by Gaston Leroux.

 Every song from the parent production is presented in the Venetian production. However, about 45 minutes of the original show, as well as the intermission have been eliminated. This presentation is 95 minutes in length. It's directed by Harold Prince and choreographed by Gillian Lynne, both of whom were involved with developing the original show.

The performance at the Venetian features a 19-member orchestra, state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, high-tech special effects (for illusions and pyrotechnics), elaborate sets, stunt men, and a remarkable chandelier experience. During 2011, the production was recognized as the city's Best Show.

There are 41 talented, dynamic, experienced cast members. The title role is held by Anthony Crivello, with Kristi Holden portraying Christine Daae, and Andrew Ragone portraying Raoul (Vincente de Chagny). Additional cast members include Larry Wayne Morbitt (Ubaldo Piangi), Tina Walsh (Madame Giry), Lawson Skala (Monsieur Firmin), John Leslie Wolf (Monsieur Andre), Joan Sobel (Carlotta Guidicelli), and Kristen Hertzenberg (the alternate Christine Daae).

Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular is family-friendly, with no nudity or profanity. However, some special effects and scary moments may startle younger children. Its organizers say it's suitable for children who are at least ten years old.
