Le Reve In Las Vegas Is A Dream Come To Life

Le Reve in Las Vegas was the first production show to open at the upscale Wynn Las Vegas resort. This innovative aquatic show is presented in-the-round and features an international cast of more than 90 acrobatic entertainers that swim, dive and dance their way through the 75-minute experience.

The show is named for the French word for dream and the audience is transported to an imaginary world through creative choreography, special effects and strong performances. Franco Dragone created the show. He is the same man responsible for creating several Cirque du Soleil shows including O and Mystere, playing elsewhere on the Vegas Strip. Choreographer Maksim Chmerkovskiy is known for his work with "Dancing with the Stars".

The intimate theater puts the audience no farther than twelve rows, or 42 feet, from the circular stage which measures nearly 69 feet in diameter. The closest seats are just four feet away in what is called the "Splash Zone". Performers appear out of nowhere and from all directions throughout this show. Synchronized swimmers ascend out of the pool while aerialists descend from the ceiling.

Perhaps the most impressive effects are the weather elements. One scene features rain pouring from the ceiling and in another it snows. The snowflakes are actually soap shavings that fall into the tank and melt away.

Sixteen scuba divers are on duty for each performance. They are there to aid the athletes while they are submerged. An intricate system of lights, breathing regulators and cameras provide a safety net for the performers. Guests seated in the Champagne Circle have video screens mounted at foot level that reveal the action going on underwater, backstage and in the catwalks high above the theater.

The theater configuration means unobstructed views of the stage from every seat in the house. The show has been a work in progress since it opened with acts, props, and other elements frequently swapped out for new material.
