Lauryn Hill is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actress.  She is probably best known early on as a member of The Fugees.  In 1998, she launched her solo career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.  This record earned Hill five Grammy Awards, including the coveted Album of the Year and Best New Artist.  It was her first and only studio album to date.

Hill's next record, the live and acoustic MTV Unplugged No. 2.0, didn't meet the high expectations of fans and Lauryn Hill withdrew from public life, dissatisfied with the pressures of celebrity.  In 2005, she reunited with the Fugees and released single "Take It Easy", although a full Fugees reunion album never quite happened and the band again broke up.

In more recent years, Lauryn Hill has recorded songs for soundtracks and mixtapes, as well as performing live at several music festivals.
