Jerry Seinfield: A Brief Look At A Lot Of Funny

Jerry Seinfield career in comedy got its start right after he graduated from college. While in college, he studied theater and communications. Earning a degree in both, he decided to put his talent to the test and try out at an open-mic night. This particular contest is what led him to appear on a Rodney Dangerfield HBO special.

After his appearance on Rodney Dangerfield's show, he was cast to play the role of "Frankie" (an aspiring comedian who no one thought was funny) on the Benson show. He wasn't on the show very long before he got fired over creative differences. However, he wasn't aware he had been fired until he showed up for work and found that he had no script. Upset, but not beaten, he made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Carson and his audience were so impressed by Jerry that he ended up being a regular on the show (and several others).

After he appeared on these late night talk shows, his career really started to take off. Together, he and Larry David created The Seinfield Chronicles in 1989. At the time, there was another show with a similar name, so The Seinfield Chronicles was renamed Seinfield to avoid any confusion. By the time Seinfield's fourth season rolled around, it had become the most successful sitcom on TV.

Jerry Seinfeld Tickets VegasIt may have been a show about nothing, during a time when other sitcoms were focused around family issues, but that may be a huge reason why it became so successful. It wasn't just funny, the stories were truly entertaining and allowed viewers to see themselves in many of the same situations.

Not only is he a great comedian and actor, he is a bestselling author. His book titled "Seinlanguage" was released in 1993 and soared to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. "Halloween", is another one of his literary creations. It was written for children and illustrated by James Bennett. He's written several other books about comedy as well.

In 2004, he donated the "Puffy Shirt" (made famous in an episode on his show) to the National Museum of American History. When presenting the shirt, he gave a speech in which he stated (jokingly) that the experience was the most embarrassing one of his life.

Although he never really pursued a movie career, in February of 2008, he was in the animated movie "A Bee Movie" as the voice of Barry. He's also made appearances in other movies, sitcoms, and has done several commercials. But being on stage performing stand-up comedy is his first love and something he still really enjoys doing.

His car collection is something else that added to his fame. His collection of Porches could possibly be the largest in the world. He's not allowed to drive all of them out on the open road, but that doesn't stop him from showing them off. He's traveled a long road to get to where he is today and the Jerry Seinfield career shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
