Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Garden Arena will be hosting Green Day twice over the next five months, opening and closing the next five months for the band. In that same period of time, Green Day will release three albums in what is can only be considered an ambitious attempt to introduce a new generation to the band that has been hitting the mainstream since Grunge music began to fade in the early 1990s. The iHeartRadio Music Festival is a massive two-day event held on September 21 and 22, 2012 put on in name of the streaming radio station. The Green Day North American Tour, which begins January 8, 2013 with a show at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois and ends on February 8, 2013 with the second Las Vegas performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This six week jaunt comes after Uno, Duo, and Tre are released. Best Coast is set to open and endear the headliner to a new generation of fans being introduced of the pop punk legends.

The move to release three albums, play a major music festival, and plan a six-week tour comes after Green Day angered a hefty percentage of the band’s fans when they caved and began releasing censored material. The new material has reached the music critics and the advance warning is one of avid fandom, with each song on the album ready for packaging as a single.
