Blue Man Group In Las Vegas Is Family Friendly Entertainment

Blue Man Group in Las Vegas is a wild production show that is pure performance art. The show combines music, comedy and multimedia presentations for a visual and audio experience that is unlike any other in the city. The lavish production opened at the Luxor in 2000. Five years later they were lured to the Venetian with a custom built theater that holds approximately 1,750 audience members.

The troupe consists of three performers with bright blue skin and bald heads. They do not speak but they are anything but silent. What they lack in speech, they more than make up for with expressive movement and sound. At times during the show they play a variety of unusual instruments made out of PVC pipe, create art by beating on drum heads coated with paint, and perform sketches that involve elaborate props accompanied by visuals played on a giant video screen.

The cast members are able to work in unison as they guide the audience through a journey of sight and sound. Their actions are at once ordinary and extraordinary. In one vignette, they use ordinary breakfast cereal as a percussion instrument.

Audience participation is a very big party of this elaborate performance. Performers constantly interact with the audience and play off the response. People sitting in the first few rows will experience the most interaction with the group. This is also designated as a splash zone because the performers use paint and other materials that can splash off the stage and onto the seats. Guests in these seats are provided with ponchos to protect their clothing.

The performance is completely family friendly and appropriate for people of all ages. Parents are urged to use discretion in bringing children younger than 3 years because of the percussive nature of the music and the amount of activity that takes place throughout the theater during the show.
