Platters, Coasters, and Marvelettes Tickets Las Vegas

The Platters join members of the Marvelettes and Cornell Gunter's Coasters for a spectacular show at the Rio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. These bands bring their unique elements of doo-wop, pop, rhythm and blues (R&B), and rock to the stage. The musical legends will perform more than 30 influential and memorable songs which sold more than one million copies world-wide. They were certified as platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).

The Platters were originally formed during 1953 in Los Angeles, California. Their genres span doo-wop, rock and roll, R&B, and soul. This group had their break-through in 1955 with their first Top Ten hit, "Only You." It was followed by "The Great Pretender, " which earned the group its first national Number One hit song.

Since their debut, this legendary group has received many accolades. Among them are inductions into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Between July of 1955 and August of 1968, 42 of the group's singles ranked on the U. S., U. S. R&B, and the U. K. Charts.

The group's original line-up included David Lynch, Joe Jefferson, Alex Hodge, Herb Reed, and Cornell Gunther. During the six decades since their formation, the line-up has changed. Other members have included Ritchie Jones, Gene Williams, Monroe Powell, Sandra Dawn, Nate Nelson, Jack Hammer, Sonny Turner, Gaynel Hodge, Zola Taylor, Paul Robi, Tony Williams, and Herb Reed. The current line-up features Monroe Powell (the group's longest lead singer), Don Gloude, Kenni Jaye, and Ines Zak.

The Platters Las Vegas performance will be held in the Rio's Crown Theater. Opened in 1990, this massive resort was built upon a Brazilian theme. It is located on the Strip, in an area known as Paradise. The show is open to audiences of all ages. For well over a decade, this legendary group has been performing to sold-out audiences.

The Coasters are a rhythm and blues/rock and roll vocal group that had a string of hits in the late 1950s.  Beginning with "Searchin'" and "Young Blood", their most memorable songs were written by the songwriting and producing team of Leiber and Stoller.  Although the Coasters originated outside of mainstream doo wop, their records were so frequently imitated that they became an important part of the doo wop legacy through the 1960s.

The Marvelettes were Motown's first successful female vocal group.  They are most notable for recording the #1 pop hit, "Please Mr. Postman", and setting the precedent for later Motown girl groups such as Martha and the Vandellas and the Supremes.
