DON OMAR: THE BEGINNINGS
Don was born in Carolina in Puerto Rico and demonstrated a passion for music from an early age. He was active in the church as a child and even performed sermons; soon after, he decided to sing full-time. His first performance as a singer was in a nightclub with the DJ Eliel Lind Osorio. After wowing the crowd, Don made regular appearances on compilation records from producers and DJs. Famed for his unique vocal style and delivery, Don soon garnered a loyal fan base of his own. He became a backup singer and then decided he wanted to be a star in his own right. Hector Delgado helped Don produce his first album, the first step in his long and successful career as a recording artist.
RISE TO FAME
Don's Las Vegas show will feature songs from his long career, which started with the release of his debut album, which sold one million copies in the United States. Don has won awards at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, while the Last Don: Live, a CD and DVD set, was nominated for Urban Music Album at the Latin Grammys in 2005. The Don Omar Vegas show will feature the same passion and energy that Don has had since the start of his career.
Don's Las Vegas show will feature his biggest hits, many of which came from his second album King of Kings. The album, which entered the Billboard 200 at number 7, beat the record as the highest charting debut from a reggaeton artist. The album spawned hits such as Salio El Sol, which was featured in the computer game Grand Theft Auto IV. Other songs made it onto the big screen, featuring in movies such as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and the Fast Five.
