Dead & Company Tickets

Dead and Company Vegas ShowDead and Company Las Vegas Tickets

Shortly after its formation, the band released dates for its tours in the US. The band members have a busy schedule from October 29th running through December 31st and packed with 22 different conferences. The tour began in New York before moving to Philadelphia, Washington DC, Massachusetts, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee, Montana and Minnesota. The tour continues to Colorado before making a major stop in Nevada. This is where the real action is taking place.

The Dead & Company Las Vegas stop will be occasioned at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Located at the 3799 Las Vegas Boulevard, this postmodern arena has a seating capacity of 16,800. The performances will be staged there on both Friday and Saturday nights and you can book your tickets for both nights online.

These are the six members of the Dead & Company band:

Mickey Hart- aged 72; Mickey has been performing music professionally for more than 50 years. However, Hart was introduced to music by his father who was a musician. He has worked with the Grateful Dead, Rhythm Devils, The Dead and The Other Ones. He primarily plays drums and percussion and several albums and videos to his credit. He has also published four books that have revolutionized the world of music.

Bill Kreutzmann- aged 69; Bill has been performing professionally since 1959. He has previously performed music with The Dead, SerialPod, The Other Ones, Backbone, Billy & the Kids, 7 Walkers, Rhythm Devils and BK3. Having started his career at the age of 13, Bill plays several instruments including djembe, drum kit and percussion. He has recorded several albums with bands and collaborations with individual artists.

John Mayer- born in 1977, John is perhaps the most talented member of the Dead & Company. He has performed with John Mayer Trio and David Ryan Harris bands. Having performed professionally for 17 years now, John has the unique ability to play several instruments including the guitar, vocals, omnichord, harmonica, piano and percussion. He has bagged several Grammy Awards and nominations.

Bob Weir- aged 68; Bob is a professional singer, guitarist and songwriter. He has performed with several bands including Kingfish, Grateful Dead, RatDog, The Dead, Bobby and the Midnites, The Other Ones and Furthur. He plays the guitar and vocals and mostly performs as a bandleader. He has recorded two music videos.

Oteil Burbridge- born in 1964, Oteil is a superb musician with a great touch of instrumentation. He has performed for several bands including Oteil and the Peacemakers, The Allman Brothers Band, Vida Blue, BK3, Aquarium Rescue Unit and tedeschi Trucks Band. He passionately plays the bass guitar, banjo, drums, piano and the bass clarinet. He has a Grammy Award to his credit.

Jeff Chimenti- aged 47; Jeff has performed professional music for more than 25 years. He has performed for several bands including RatDog, Les Claypool’s Frog Brigade, Furthur, The Dead, Golden Gate Wingmen and The Other Ones. He specializes with keyboards.

What to Expect

Dubbed as a resurrection of The Grateful Dead by many fans, Dead & Company is expected to perform several tunes with a great combination of expert improvisation and classical musicianship. They have not mentioned the tracks they will perform but from speculation and public demand, “Shakedown Street” is expected to rock. Depending on the mood of the audience, the track mix may change appropriately. This is a performance to die for.

The mix of tracks will be intended to provide a bluesy folk pace that is partially slowed down before introducing jams that are served to keep the atmosphere light and grooving. I can imagine Bob Weir and John Mayer pacing up interchangeably with their guitars with great vocals and trading licks throughout the session. One exhilarating moment about the duo is their rare ability to display complex melodies of different tracks and their transitions with relative ease.

Bill and Mickey are expected to bring Las Vegas to boiling point with their drum kits. The solemn moment I always long for with rock performance sessions is the pulsing rhythm that the musicians often produce as they pave in way for song selection. So they don’t have to struggle to memorize the song that comes next because the overall mood just ushers in the next song. This leaves the audience on their feet and simply wanting more.

The Superstar of the Weekend

Even though bands always work as a team, one member is always obviously expected to shine above and beyond the rest. This is common in sports such as football and basketball where one man is always voted the “Man of the Match” for showing extreme displays and excellent performance. The same thing is expected in Las Vegas as the weekend runs down.

After his display in New York in an event sponsored by American Express, John Mayer simply proved that he is a force to reckon with. John is undoubtedly the superstar of the Dead & Company Las Vegas musical operation this weekend. He has the unique ability to understand and dance through different cultural components while remaining technically inventive with the guitar while on stage. You may simply think this man was born playing the guitar. However, you can also expect to see different displays from other members of the band.
