Culture Club is a popular band from England that has several international hits. The band includes frontman/vocalist-Boy George, keyboardist/guitarist Roy Hay, bassist Mikey Craig, and drummer Jon-Moss. After conquering their homeland England, they became a bigger musical rage in the U.S in the 80’s.
The band has launched a 40 city summer tour in 2016. So, this year this pop sensation is finally back with a scintillating concert in the Las Vegas.

The spirits of the people in Vegas are high. They are excitingly looking forward to the live concert of the Cultural Club. The entire band is performing together this season after 12 years. It has been a long wait, as the band canceled its show in 2014 just a few days prior to the event. This year, it would be worthwhile to see all the four sensations put their best feet forward. The concert duration is 90 minutes and entry is via tickets, for age groups 6 years and above.
The world- renowned Palms casino resort is the perfect venue for the Cultural Club’s concert as it ideally captures the vibrancy and excitement of Las Vegas. The Pearl theater in the resort has a seating capacity of 2500 seats and when you walk in to witness this epic concert, be sure to leave your cameras and recording devices behind.
The band was scheduled to perform at the same venue in LA in 2014. But just a few days before the US tour, the band had to cancel their concert as the lead singer-Boy George was diagnosed with a polyp in his throat. He has resumed his shows after the treatment.
This Summer tour is the band’s first tour since 2002. What made the event even more special was that all the original four members would be performing, since 1986.
On 19th July 2014, the band performed at the Edinburgh castle, at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow. Guitarist Ray Hay was unable to perform as he was recuperating from a knee surgery.
The band traveled to Spain and recorded multiple songs in 2014 for their new album Tribes, produced by Youth. This album is their 6th album overall and will be released after a long gap, last being the 1999 album, Don’t mind if I Do.

Early life and career:
The Cultural Club has had a career spanning more than 30 years. This band steered the Romantic Movement in the 80’s and soared high to international acclaim. Their catchy pop albums were complemented with their unusual attires and quirky style of dressing. This made them hot favorites with the young audience and caught media attention galore.
The band was formed by Boy George who previously performed with Blitz Club under the name Lieutenant Lush. The band members were culturally diverse and therefore they named their band Cultural Club. Their diversity was their biggest asset as they could blend disco, calypso, balladry, synth-pop and reggae together to churn out captivating music.
The band was formed in 1981 and they released two songs in May 1982 without much success. In September 1982, the band released their 3rd song, ’Do you really-want to hurt me’, which went on to become a phenomenal hit. This was followed by Time’ and I’ll tumble for you’. These 3 singles made the pop band the first group after Beatles to feature 3 hit singles in the Top 10. The song titled Karma Chameleon’ from the album Color by Numbers’, is regarded as the band’s best work. Virgin records started handling their music distribution in the U.K while Epic-Records released their albums in the US.
The album Colors by Numbers’ has been acclaimed one of the best albums of the 80s-by Rolling Stone magazine. It has also been featured in the book “10001 Albums You-Must Hear before-You Die”.
In 1984 the band released Waking up with a house on fire’, but this failed to captivate the audience, and this is where the band’s downfall started. The album, From luxury to heartache’ was the last recorded album, before the band split in 1986 owing to personal conflicts.
Cultural Club won the highly acclaimed Grammy award in 1984 for the best new artist category. They have sold more than 150 million records worldwide. They won 2 awards in the 1984 Brits awards. The band was also nominated for the MTV music awards, American Music Awards, and their song Time’ has been added in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of 500 songs.
Colours by Number’ is the epic music that has the made the audience fall in love with the Cultural Club forever. Karma Chameleon was the most popular song of the album and it was no. 1 in 30 countries and one of the best-selling singles of 1980’s. Boy George was a fashion icon of the youth in the 80’s and 90’s and still maintains his signature look to this day. Youngsters have grown up idealizing him and it will be the first time they will see the band perform live. People in Vegas have been waiting for this band to perform on their land. Though last year the fans were left disappointed, 2016 will be the year when Vegas witnesses the band performance.
