Carlos Vives released 12 studio albums throughout his long career. He has also earned one Gold album and four Platinum ones and he has also been nominated with a number of industry awards. In 1993 he earned a CMA trophy on a vocal event of the year prize for his song ' I don't need your rockin' chair'. He is best known to many of his fans for his pop vocals, as well as his Colombian vallenato music; Vallenato has roots in European, Colombina and African musics; it uses bamboo flutes, German accordions, African drums and other instruments. in 2002 he eceived various Latin Grammy nominations.

Vives then ventured into the world of music as a professional artist and came out with his first album, under the titloe 'Fuera y Por Dentro'. He then followed with two ballad oriented albums 'Al centro de la ciudad; and 'No Podras Escapar de Mi'. He also played the role of "Rafael Escalona," the legendary Colombian composer in the most successful way. He also performed on the Escalona’s tracks . Carlos proved to be among the best Colombian artists of all time and today he is c considered among the best versatile performers in the world. His 10th studio album hit the shelves in 2001, under the title Dejame Entrar, which received the Latin Grammy Awards for "Best Contemporary Tropical Album" and "Best Tropical Song." The album also won aGrammy Award for 'Best Traditional & Tropical Latin Album, making right away a total of three Grammys.


His Biography

Carlos Vives was born in Santa Marta, in Colombia, in August 1961. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Bogota, where he began to get interested in music. He started play in local bars around the capital of Colombia and then he decided to become an actor. He actually had a great success as an actor, when he had main role in 'Gallito Ramirez' in 1986. But he was a musically talented child and when he was 18 years old, he decided to follow his passion and became a professional musician. The amazing singer Carlos Vives started singing with his rock band in local night clubs. He graduated from the J. T. Lozano University, where he studied publicity and he also attended several classes for theater (night courses) at the National University.

In 1982, when he was performing in Ramon Antigua club in Bogota, a TV producer liked his shows and wanted him to take part in an audition for the television show 'Tiempo Sin Huella'. He actually took the part and after some months he also starred in various Latin soap operas for around 15 years. He actually met Margarita R. de Francisco (his first wife), while working for the Gallito Ramirze television show. In fact, they decided to get married in 1988, but unfortunately two years later they got divorced. After forming the band 'La Provincia', he began performing the local style Vallenato and he made a number of tours all over his country for his fans.
