Cher Returns to Las Vegas at The Park Theater at Park MGM for several shows throughout November.
Born in 1946 in El Centro, California, Cher is a world-renowned American musician and actress with an array of Top 10 hit songs to her name such as I Got You Babe, Half-Breed, Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves as well as Dark Lady. She is expected to perform live in Las Vegas soon, where some of her best songs would be on play.
Background & Early Life
Cher grew up in her native town of El Centro, where she lived with her mother Georgia and younger half-sister Georganne. The family wasn’t very well-off with Cher having to be placed under orphanage-care at a certain point in her childhood, while her mother struggled to look for work. However, even from an early age she knew that her destiny lies in the world of performing arts, taking up acting as one of her extracurricular activities.
What to expect at the concert:-
Over the years, Cher has established herself as an electrifying stage performer. Fans can expect to be entertained by her extravagant and unusual costumes which she often wears during live performances, including outlandish accessories that add to her flare.
Throughout her years in entertainment, Cher has routinely worked with acclaimed designer Bob Mackie, who has fashioned a series of peculiar outfits for her that are both theatrical and unapologetically fun. Furthermore, sometimes the singer wears her flamboyant outfits to communicate a hidden message, which fans attending the Las Vegas concert should be watchful for. For instance, during the 1986 Academy Awards event, Cher wore a black chain-link halter with matching feather headdress as a protest over not being nominated for her role in ‘Mask’. A few years later, she also wore a stream-lined minidress with frills at the Oscars courtesy of her designer Mackie.
In terms of her music style, Cher is known for her countercultural singing persona with classic bohemian stylings that reflect back to her native roots. This can be seen in some of her popular singles such as ‘Baby Don’t Go’, which is also a song that promotes social awareness.
Just like her outfits, most of Cher’s songs also have a message to pass across. For instance, from her ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves’ solo hit she talks about a traveling show family and teenage pregnancy, whereas in the other top 10 hit ‘Half Breed’ she sings about the ongoing persecution of a partly Native-American citizen struck between two social settings.
Throughout her career in entertainment, Cher has dated several top showbiz names, including Warren Beatty whom she dated during her teenage years and later on romantically linked to actors Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise. Other people she has dated in the past are actor/pilot Robert Camilletti and musician Richie Sambora.
Cher married twice in her life, first to the late Bono who accidentally passed away in a skiing accident, and briefly to musician Gregg Allman. From these relationships, she had two children, Chaz Bono from her first marriage and Elijah Blue Allman from the second one.
In her upcoming Cher in Vegas concert, she is expected to give an electrifying
