Las Vegas is adding a fascinating tourist attraction in the form of the World’s largest Ferris wheel that can take more than a thousand people on a ride, at an astonishing 550 feet into the sky over the Strip of the city. The wheel, which has been constructed since 2011, will be opened early in 2014, and is taller than the city’s Bellagio Hotel Casino. It carries an approximated 3.5 million pounds of steel, which is equal to about 200 Hummers, and one revolution will be about 30 minutes.
The wheel has 28 cabins, which is similar to a capsule in a gondola or sky tram with an occupancy of 40 people at the maximum. Every cabin includes a 300 sq. feet of glass. The large magnificent wheel has been built by the Caesars Entertainment Corp as a centerpiece of a large and new development called Linq. David Codiga, who is the Project Director, has termed the wheel an icon for the Las Vegas, and part of the city’s main attraction.
