Cirque du Soleil’s Zarkana at The Aria
Cirque du Soleil’s “Zarkana” will replace Viva Elvis at The Aria in Las Vegas. The new Cirque du Soleil show premieres at Aria on Nov. 8, and Viva Elvis will bid farewell with their last performance on Aug. 18. The first preview performances of “Zarkana” begin Oct. 25. “Zarkana” drew huge crowds playing last year at Radio City Music Hall in New York and also in Madrid Spain. The show is currently playing at the Kremlin Theater in Russia. “Zarkana,” written and directed by François Girard, brings amazing acrobatics, some incredible digital technology, exotic costumes, whimsical clowns and f course some old school circus acts.“Zarkana” has been reviewed by the New York Post as “truly spectacular, awe-inspiring,
gorgeous and stunning.” Zarkana is a fantastically bizarre world where we follow the adventures of Zark, a magician who has lost his love and, with her, his powers. As he cries and begs for her return he is plunged into a world inhabited by surreal creatures. The diverse cast of 71 international artists transports the audience into a fantastical and suspenseful world, blurring the boundaries between the real and imaginary.
“Zarkana” returns to Radio City Music Hall at the end of May and ends its run there Sept. 3 after which the production will pack up and head to the Aria in Las Vegas. The staging at the Aria is very similar to that of Radio City Music Hall in New York so not a lot of construction or changes will be necessary to accommodate the new show. Get your tickets early as this exciting and highly anticipated show will be sure to attract the crowds.
